The Big Red Gambo of Gower!

The shepherds hut formally known as Big Red is now The Gambo of Gower – a large luxury glamping hut with a stunning seaview.

Our clients at Kidwelly Farm Cottages near Carmarthen run a successful glamping and holiday accommodation business. They already had a shepherds hut – Big Cwtch – which is very popular, so they wanted to add a big brother to their shepherds hut family. Enter Big Red aka The Gambo.

We worked closely with our clients to come up with a design and layout that provides everything you might need from a luxury stay.

And as his final position was to be looking out over the Gower peninsula – truly breathtaking views – we worked around that positioning when we designed the layout. All the viewpoints are on the one side with a wide set of full glass French doors plus a large picture window.

As one of our custom Osprey huts, he comes with a fully fitted shower room and kitchen, plus electric heating and a Hobbit stove for extra cosiness.

He is both fatter and longer than our standard Osprey though at 6.6m long and 8ft wide. (A little bit of mixed imperial and metric there, because we can’t make our minds up.)

Dave and Lewis also built a hand made headboard and king sized bed, slightly raised so that guests can look out over the sea whilst sitting or lying in bed.

We painted the interior in colours chosen by our clients who wanted a cosy, colourful, and slightly eclectic feel. And they opted for red metal cladding with anthracite coloured roof sheets, and stylish anthracite UPVC windows and doors for easy maintenance.

On site, our clients have added a hot tub and seating area out front. It’s a really wonderful location and a super-duper, super-sized hut.
